Jets Climb Into Top 30 of NFL Power Rankings With Win Over Bucs
NEW YORK – With today’s hard fought victory over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the New York Jets are expected to make a big jump into the top 30 of the NFL power rankings for week 2, according to league observers.
“They said we didn’t have a chance this year,” boomed a proud Rex Ryan to his team during his post game speech. “They said we might very well be the worst of the 32 teams in the league. But thanks to a foolish unnecessary roughness penalty that gave us a free chance at a last-second field goal, we came away with a one-point victory at home against the last place finisher in the NFC South from 2012, and boy oh boy, I just could not be more proud of you guys for that.”
The Jets have been ranked at or near the bottom of every major power poll heading into the season, but yesterday’s win will likely propel the team higher than expected based on their preseason performance.
“That’s why they don’t play the games on paper,” gloated Ryan. “To the guys at ESPN, Sport Illustrated, and Bleacher Report, who all put us at #32 on their power polls, all I have to say us, ‘position #29, here we come!'”
